Target group
All those who need training in MARIS ECDIS and MDS, i.e. navigators, VTS operators, pilots and employees at shipping offices with responsibility for operating vessels.
MARIS ECDIS900 familiarisation course including MDS (Maritime Digital Services)
Regulation I/14, paragraph 1.5 of the STCW Convention, as well as sections 6.3 and 6.5 of the International Safety Management (ISM) Code, requires companies to ensure seafarers are provided with familiarization training. A ship safety management system should include familiarization with the ECDIS equipment fitted, including its backup arrangements, sensors and related peripherals. To assist Member Governments, Parties to the STCW Convention, companies and seafarers, a record of such familiarization should be provided. This course covers the familiarisation training for MARIS ECDIS900 including MDS (Maritime Digital Services).

Teaching methods
The course is practically based, with some theory.All our instructors have experience of practical use of a number of relevant ECDIS systems.
Equipment
The course is carried out at 12 workstations set up with MARIS 9000 ECDIS incl. desktop simulator, radar, MDS and control of a ship.Relevant ship models and sailing areas can be adapted to the course participants.

Prerequisites
Some knowledge and experience of charts and chart work is beneficial, but not necessary.Preferably also experience of using a PC.
Duration
One day course from 08:30 - 15:30.
Certification
Certification is awarded to the student on the last day of the course, provided the course has been successfully completed.
Price
The price per participant is NOK 6.900.-.This includes course material, lunch, coffee and mineral water during the course.
