Competence

Competence in the academic environment means requirements on size, academic field and level, stability over time, and requirements for relevant educational competence.

Competence in the academic environment is another dimension of educational quality. Section 2-3 of the Academic Supervision Regulations specifies the requirements for an academic environment, such as requirements on size, academic field and level, stability over time, and requirements for relevant educational competence. 


High academic and educational competence shall ensure that the students are included in an environment where there is a living culture for learning, where the students are involved at the forefront of research and development work, nationally and internationally. The students shall be provided with access to the scientific basis for subjects, its mindsets and methods, they shall be stimulated to professionally innovate and critically reflect, so that they can contribute to professional innovation in collaboration with the academic environment. 


At USN, there is a focus on ensuring that subject teachers have competence in the use of ICT in teaching and can use ICT and digital technology in teaching, learning and assessments.
