Gesa Praetorius

Gesa Praetorius is Senior Researcher at the Swedish Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI) and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences, University of South-Eastern Norway. She has a background in Cognitive Science (Cognitive Systems Engineering, Interaction Design) and PhD in Shipping and Marine Technology. Gesa is a an expert in human factors, system safety and resilience engineering, which she applies to study the complex interplay between human operators, technology and organization in maritime operations. Her current research projects focus on the cooperation between human operators and automation in traffic management, and on the applicability of resilience engineering concepts in maritime safety training.
