Line Joranger

Professor
Faculty of Health and Social Sciences
Department of Health, Social and Welfare Studies
Campus Vestfold (C2-58)
My research is concerned with how one through historical and epistemological analysis can reveal how culture and lived experiences push us to think along certain lines when it comes to health, politic, human rights and science. It demonstrates that the biggest threat to a sustainable future, is exclusive and systematic recognition of a single worldview. My research encourages openness toward health and human rights by identifying and putting aside theoretical and ideological prejudgments. In particular, it encourages an ethical recognition of the idea that the fundamental characteristic of being human is to be responsible for oneself and others. My philosophical and historical focus on global health and human rights bridges the intellectual thought in contemporary global health, cultural and community psychology, and critical epistemology. Currently I am working on a scientific monograph for Routledge: "Fear and Care in a Pandemic: New Interpersonal Relationships with the Other, Oneself and the World". Previous publications for Routledge are: "An interdisciplinary Approach to the Human Mind: Subjectivity, Science and Experiences in Change (Cultural Dynamics of Social Representation)". Routledge 2018/2019. I am a member of the Regional Committee for Medical and Health Research Ethics (REK-sørøst B).
