Responsibilities
Professor Leminen holds a doctoral degree, D.Sc. (Tech.), in Industrial Engineering and Management (2015) from the School of Science at Aalto University, a doctoral degree, D.Sc. (Econ.), in Marketing (1999) from the Hanken School of Economics (AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS accredited, earlier Swedish School of Economics) in Finland.
He has Lic. (Tech.) in Information Technology (1994) at Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering and Automation) (earlier Helsinki University of Technology) in Finland, and M.Sc. (Eng.) in Control Engineering (1989) in LUT School of Energy Systems at Lappeenranta University of Technology in Finland.
He is currently engaged as Adjunct Professor of Business Development in the Department of Marketing at Aalto University School of Business (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS accredited) in Finland and Adjunct Research Professor in Technology Innovation Management Program at the Carleton University in Canada.
He has published 240 articles, book chapters, conference papers, and other publications.
He has also served as a co-guest editor in eleven special issues, and two books on value-creating networks in living labs.
He has published in Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Engineering and Technology Management, Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing, Journal of Cleaner Production, Management Decision, International Journal of Technology Management, Creativity and Innovation Management, International Journal of Innovation Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change and Technology Innovation Management Review, among many others.
Professor Leminen has 25+ years experience in leading complex multidisciplinary research projects financed by external national and international research funding instruments. His current research topics includes digital business models and ecosystems (cf. 5G, autonomous systems, Internet of Things), robotics, block chains, living labs, innovation ecosystems, collaborative and networked models of innovations, as well as management and marketing models for different types of companies.
Professor Leminen is one of leading experts in the usage and development of living labs, which combine multidisciplinary knowledge and methods with diverse stakeholders such as companies, public bodies, universities, as well as citizens, users and customers in real-life environments.
He is an Area Editor in Techovation (2020-), a Member of the Editorial Board in the Creativity and Innovation Management (2023-), a Member of the Review Board in Technology Innovation Management Review (2012-), a Member of the Editorial Review Board in the Journal of Small Business Management (2008-), and was Associate editor in BRQ, Business Research Quarterly (2018-2022), and he is co-leading a special interest group of living labs in ISPIM.
Professor Leminen has reviewed papers in multiple highly ranked scientific innovation and marketing journals such as Research Policy, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Industrial Marketing Management, California Management Review, R&D Management, and Technovation among others.
