The grant is being launched by the Centre for Sustainable Transition at USN. The centre intends to develop and increase knowledge in the field of sustainable transition and is eager that students should play an active part.
“All master’s students at USN who are looking to learn more about sustainability should apply for this grant”, says Ragne B. Hvidsten, who is a Project Adviser at the Centre for Sustainable Transition at USN. “We hope to receive grant applications from most subject fields at the university, and that the funding will stimulate the development of more knowledge about sustainability, regardless of the study programme”.
How big a grant can you apply for?
The master’s grant is a trial arrangement for 2022, involving two application deadlines on 1 March and 1 October. The total grant amount will be NOK 200,000, with a maximum of NOK 25,000 for each individual grant. You can apply for funding for purposes that will support your master’s project, such as travel expenses, data gathering, equipment, books or attendance at courses and conferences.
In order to obtain funding, your project must address sustainability, and preferably the concept of sustainable transition. If your project is specifically cross-disciplinary, or contributes in any way towards collaboration between groups with contrasting viewpoints on sustainability, it will be assigned priority for a grant award.
Who is eligible to apply for a master’s grant to study sustainability at USN?
All master’s students at USN whose theses incorporate a perspective on sustainability may apply. Your subject field has no bearing on the decision to award a grant. Applications from student nurses, engineers and teachers will be given as much consideration as those studying economics, culture, design and art and handicrafts.
The only requirement is that you are an active student studying under a master’s programme at USN and that your project outline and topic have been approved by a tutor. Both full- and part-time students are eligible to apply.
