International Summer School in Mostar

The Most Serious of International Crimes and Social Entrepreneurship: The International Summer School of 2019 will take place in Mostar 3 - 15 June. The programme runs each year, and is organized by the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar, the University Sveučilište u Mostaru and the University of South-Eastern Norway. The Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar will be hosting the summer school in 2019.

What you will learn

The purpose of this programme is to give the students an introduction to the international regime for human rights and social entrepreneurship.

Practical information

  • The courses will take place at The Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar.
  • Dates: 3 June - 15 June 2019
  • Application deadline: February 15th for USN students - first intake. Then rolling admission for available places until May 1. The application deadline for local students in Bosnia-Hercegovina will be May 1.
  • Travel and accommodation as well as participation in non-mandatory excursions, trips and events must be covered by the participant. 
  • There is no additional support provided by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (lånekassen) for participating at summer schools, but travel and living costs are kept to a minimum to ensure that students can overcome the costs attending this course.
  • Students are not required to get a formal approval by their programme coordinator at the faculty, to attend. The summer school can be approved as a part of a bachelor programme by your home institution, or be taken as an additional course, earning additional credits.
  • Possibilites for accommodation arrangements for students coming from outside Mostar will be at the Hostel Hercegovina. Price: 15 Euros/night, breakfast included

  • The date and time of the exam is set to Saturday June 15, 09.00-12.00 in the morning for INTCRIM 1000 and Saturday June 15, 09.00-13.00 for SOCIENT 1000.
  • Travel arrangements for participants from Norway: NB! Det går fly både til og fra Dubrovnik, Sarajevo og Split lørdag 1. samt lørdag 15.juni. Vi anbefaler retur hjem fra Sarajevo lørdag kveld, 15. juni for de som skal hjem denne dagen. Tidlig returfly fra Dubrovnik kolliderer med eksamenstidspunktet! Returtransport settes uansett opp fra Mostar til Sarajevo og Dubrovnik (15 Euro/vei), men først senere på dagen, etter at eksamensavviklingen er overstått, dvs lørdag ettermiddag. NB! 15.20-flyet fra Dubrovnik anbefales ikke, da det er en reell sjanse for at dere ikke kommer frem i tide til å rekke flyet.

Students from Norway: The application and registration deadline for Norwegian students is February 15th - Thisi is the first intake. After Feb 15 there will be rolling admission for available places until May 1. Please contact if you have any questions.

Students from Mostar and other USN partners: The final deadline is May 1st. 

On the application form you need to submit a contact person at your home institution. This may be the responsible administrator (studieveileder) for your program. 

To get admission, it is sufficient to be enrolled in a higher education program - 1.2. or 3. year at Bachelor level.

Admission requirements

  • Please note: Students should be enrolled in an undergraduate programme at their home institution. 
  • The courses are particularly suitable for students enrolled in an undergraduate programme, with focus on social sciences/ law/ political science/humanities/education i.e.  The social entrepreneurship course is also suitable for students in technology/IT/engineering.
  • There are no prerequisites for these courses except eligibility to study at the post-high school level and the ability to relate meaningfully to an English spoken classroom and to understand texts written in English.
