No start-up in autumn 2024

This study will not be offered in the autumn of 2024. Students may apply for admission to "Scandinavian Studies". More information about this to come.

Why study Norwegian?

This programme provides students with good communication skills in Norwegian. It also focuses on how to adapt and adjust to Norwegian society.

Successful completion of the programme fulfils the Norwegian language requirement for studying in Norway.

Since the programme is considered a language course, it does not qualify for a student loan from Lånekassen.

The study programme consists of two courses:

  • Norwegian Language
  • Norwegian Social Studies

Teaching and learning methods

Lectures, group work, practice and home assignments. Attendance is obligatory. Assessment is based on written and oral examinations.

Study Plan

A study plan describes the content, structure and organization of a study programme. To each study plan there is a set of subject plans that describe the different subjects. In the subject plan you will also find a reading list. Below you will find a study model that shows you which subjects that are taught each term. In the study model you'll also find links to each subject plan.

Admission requirements

You must meet the minimum requirement for entry into Norwegian universities or university colleges, with the exception of the requirement for Norwegian proficiency. No skills in Norwegian are required. Because there is competition about the places on this programme, you should document all secondary and higher education.

Only citizens of EU/EEA countries are eligible, as admission to this programme does not qualify you to apply for a student visa (*from January 1st 2021 UK citizens are not considered as EU citizens).

See important information about the admission process.

The course is found under "KORTSTUD" and the deadline is April 15th.
