GNFR seminar, "Freire and Grundtvig - a connection transgressing time and place"

Janaina and Sergio

On the 15th of March GNFR's first online seminar was held - "Freire and Grundtvig - a connection transgressing time and place" . There were 96 participants registered for the seminar. Researchers, teachers and students from all over the world joined to hear Sérgio Haddad and Janaína Uemura present their research and to share their reflections in the following group session.

The seminar was initiated by a presentation of the Global Network for Folk high school Research and the members of the core committee. The theme for the seminar was presented by Sérgio Haddad and Janaína Uemura who gave an outline of their study on Grundtvig and Freire. We are especially grateful to them for this introduction, their study covers a theme that in many ways captures the vision for GNFR.
9 participants had prepared themselves to act as leaders in the following group session. For us this is the heart of the online seminars - to follow up the presented research with a dialogue that includes folk high school representatives from all over the globe. As we hoped, there were many good reflections reported from the group session.
The online gathering on the 15th of March fulfilled our expectations and hopes for the GNFR online seminars. We will announce another seminar before the summer. The GNFR core committee has the ambition of organizing two online seminars each semester.
