Industrial companies gradually shift their focus to renewable energy. Energy systems inherently are systems of systems with systems on the demand and supply side, infrastructure systems, and various levels of control systems.
This year KSEE sessions are jointly organized with the SoSE. In this track, lead by Gerrit Muller, KSEE invites practitioners to present what and how they develop renewable energy solutions.
Presenting at KSEE
Bernd Kuhnle, PolyTech
From sensor to solution - rotor blade monitoring and optimization in wind energy
https://hdl.handle.net/11250/2760842
Diploma degree in aerospace engineering. 10+ years of experience in wind energy. Worked for two wind turbine OEM and as a research assistant in large publicly funded European research projects.
Joined fos4X in 2015, as part of executive management from 2016, being responsible for all sales, marketing, and business development activities worldwide including setting up a Chinese entity in 2018.
After the acquisition of fos4X by Polytech in 2020, focus on business development, strategic product road mapping, and China sales support.
Niclas Ege, H-tec
Green Hydrogen: from R&D to marketable solutions
https://hdl.handle.net/11250/2760845
Sales Manager. Driving the commercialization of H-TEC’s technology.
Niclas holds an M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management. He has gained broad experience in the energy storage, renewable energy, and innovation space for more than 5 years, both in consulting and sales management positions for CPC AG and H-TEC SYSTEMS GmbH
Bjørn Egil Evensen, Kongsberg Maritime
How can Hydrogen energy be transferred safely and efficiently to sea-going vessels
https://hdl.handle.net/11250/2760844
Bjørn Egil Evensen is the technical Product Manager for Power Management Systems in Kongsberg Maritime. He has been working in Kongsberg since 1991.
In 2015 he finished a Master in Systems Engineering at HIBU, now USN, in parallel with his work at Kongsberg Maritime.
During his years in Kongsberg, he had several positions such as Software Application Development Engineer, Software Maintenance Manager, System Design Engineer, Product Advisor, Senior System Engineer, and System Architect
Nikolai Drake Borge, LOS Cable Solutions
Disruptive innovation in power systems: Understanding complex infrastructure systems
https://hdl.handle.net/11250/2760849
Nikolai has a B. Sc. in renewable energy and power engineering from the University of Southern Norway, and a M. Sc. in Industrial Management with Systems Engineering from the University of South-Eastern Norway. His thesis on disruptive innovation in power systems was inspired by his interest for power- and energy systems, and the challenges spurred by new drivers and behaviours in energy markets. Post-graduation he now works in civil engineering, designing and building high voltage cable systems.
Gerrit Muller, University of South-Eastern Norway
How to transition to the future energy system; an extreme Systems of Systems challenge
https://hdl.handle.net/11250/2760820
Originally from the Netherlands received his master’s degree in physics from the University of Amsterdam in 1979. He worked from 1980 until 1997 at Philips Medical Systems as a system architect, followed by two years at ASML as manager systems engineering, returning to Philips (Research) in 1999.
Since 2003, he has worked as a senior research fellow at the Embedded Systems Institute in Eindhoven, focusing on developing system architecture methods and the education of new system architects, receiving his doctorate in 2004.
In January 2008, he became a full professor of systems engineering at the University of South-Eastern Norway in Kongsberg (USN), Norway. He continues to work as a senior research fellow at the Embedded Systems Innovations by TNO in Eindhoven in a part-time position. Since 2020, he is an INCOSE fellow and Excellent Educator at USN.
