GOaL – Go Out and Learn

An Erasmus+ project on curricular based outdoor learning.

Outdoor learning

The benefits of outdoor learning receives much international recognition, but we still tend to initiate research projects on outdoor learning with a cultural and local specific approach. The diversity of approaches and lack of intercultural understanding are significant barriers to the international transfer of knowledge and expertise in curricular outdoor learning.

Project goals

The GOaL-project aim to exploit the rich potential for cross-national curricular learning by bringing together the knowledge of teachers from primary schools in each country and HEI practitioners from the University of South-Eastern Norway, Plymouth University in United Kingdom, Leuven University College in Belgium and University of Bologna in Italy. All nations have different geographical, cultural and linguistic context, but they also have commonalities in terms of school curriculum expectations, the challenge of developing 21st century skills, and the need to ensure inclusive practice.

The GOaL project’s main objective is to develop common understandings, methodologies and guidelines to teachers and policy makers within the field of outdoor learning, to the benefit of our children.
