The Lecture

Andreas MuharAndreas will address the topic of “Concepts of the Human-Nature-Relationship and linkages to environmental behaviour», an important but complex issue for sustainability goals. He will address these issues:

  • How do we see our relationship with nature?
  • How is this reflected in individual behaviour?
  • What concepts of the human-nature relationship (e.g. the ecosystem services concept) are explicitly or implicitly used as framing of research/planning processes?
  • How does the framing of such a process affect the behaviour of actors and thus also the outcome?

About Andreas Muhar

Andreas is Professor in Sustainable Landscape Development, Transdisciplinarity and Knowledge Integration at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. His research focus is on theory and practice of inter- and transdisciplinary research and on the linkages between understandings of the human-nature-relationship and environmental behaviour.

Practical application fields are related to transformation towards sustainability, in particular regarding energy transition, nature conservation and landscape-based tourism.
