Dr. Abdul-Razak is Professor in the Department of Educational Science. His background straddles the fields of education and child welfare. He received his Ph.D. from University of Brunei, M.Phil. from Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet), PGCert and BA from University of South-Eastern Norway (USN). He is a professionally trained Teacher/educator and has a wealth of teaching and social work experience. Before joining USN, he worked in Brunei, Ghana, Norway and U.S.A. Among others, his research focuses on pedagogical, psychological and sociological understanding of educational inclusion of children and youth with and without disabilities, those from minority background and less privileged homes. Of particular interest to him are special and inclusive education; learning disabilities and difficulties; child protection; and how history and myths shape the manner children with certain disabilities are treated in society. He employs mixed methodologies (quantitative and qualitative ) with wide-ranging theoretical perspectives in his research.

I teach and supervise students in the  Norwegian Teacher Training Degree Programme (5-Year Masters programme).  In addition, I co-lead a research group – Minorities and Education with Professor Paul Thomas.
