Hieu T. Nguyen received the B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Saskatchewan, Canada and Norwegian University of Science and Technology, respectively. He is a faculty member at Department of Natural Science and Industrial Systems (IRI), Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences, and Maritime Sciences (TNM), University of South-Eastern Norway (USN).

  • Feb. 2017- Now:  Associate Professor in the Department of Science and Industrial System, USN Kongsberg Campus. My teaching courses: VHDL Programming, Control Systems, Mechatronics, Computer Architecture.
  • Aug. 2014- Dec.2018: Associate Professor in Electronics and Satellite technology, Study Coordinator for Master of Science in Satellite Engineering, Institute for Electrical Engineering, IVT-Faculty, The Arctic University of Norway (UiT), in charge of Electronics and Communication subjects. My teaching courses: VHDL Programming, Satellite Communications, and Digital Communications.
  • Apr. 2007- Dec. 2008: Lecturer at Radio communications group, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), Vietnam. My teaching courses: Mobile GSM/WCDMA/HSPA networks, Spectral spectrum theory, and multiple access technologies.

Working Experiences in Industrial Electronics & Digital Systems

  • Jan. 2013-Aug.2014:  Hardware Design Engineer at Epson Norway Research & Development. Main tasks:
    • ​ Research and development of digital signal processing algorithms for interactive projector: Automatic distance measurement, blob-to-tip compensation for pen and finger, Positioning of pen and finger, Solution for localization in Digital Zoom and Keystones, Finger detection based on stereo-camera images.
    • Develop FPGA submodule for Background subtraction. 
    • Develop software for distance measurement, the blob-to-tip compensation module. 
    • Integration and system tests.
  • Apr.2007-May.2008: A hardware design engineer at Wichip Technologies. Main tasks: FPGA development of Entropy Decoder of H.264 Video Codec.
