Jeg er professor i turisme og program koordinator for Master of Sustainability Management. I tillegg er jeg veileder for studenter på bachelor, master og PhD programm. Jeg er engasjert i tverrfaglig forskning med fokus på sosial bærekraft i rural og regional nærings og samfunnsutvikling. Fra 1996 har jeg vært engasjert i reiselivsutdanning og forskning, med fokus på kultur og kulturarvsturisme. Jeg er en av få reiselivsforskere som fokuserer på hest i turisme.Jeg har bakgrunn i fagdidaktik i kunst og kunsthåndverk, for dette rektor ved Islands konst-og håndverkshøgskole, kulturkonsulent for Islands Institutt for Regional Utvikling og styreleder i utvalget for læreplan i kunstfag for grunn- og videregående skole i Island.
