Buddy Week

Buddy week marks the start of the academic year and is an important arena for getting to know fellow students. Through social events such as barbecues, treasure hunts and tournaments, friendships and networks are formed that last throughout the study period. The buddies, who have already studied at the campus, act as guides and supporters during the initial period.

Student Volunteering

Student volunteering is strong in Notodden. StuA, the students’ own bar in the town centre, organises themed parties, quiz nights and creative activities such as “paint and sip”. Here you can also get involved as a volunteer, which offers both social benefits and valuable experience. In addition, there is a wide range of student sports available, with activities such as floorball, climbing, volleyball and HIIT training. The campus board also supports the formation of new hobby and sports groups.

Notodden’s location between mountains, lakes and forests offers excellent opportunities for outdoor life. Destinations such as Eikeskar and Gaustatoppen are popular among students, and in winter Grønkjær ski resort and Kongsberg alpine centre are easily accessible – with student discounts on ski passes.

The Cultural City of Notodden

The city’s cultural offerings include concerts, cinema, theatre and museums at the Book & Blues House, as well as Norway’s largest blues festival every late summer. The campus is centrally located within walking distance of the town centre, and student accommodation is offered both through the Student Welfare Organisation and private landlords.

Facts about campus Notodden

Location: Our campus is located above the centre of Notodden, in the northeast of Telemark. The municipality has just over 12,500 inhabitants, and over 9,000 of these live in Notodden town.

Did you know?: Notodden’s long and strong industrial history has led the town to be included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The town is also well known for its blues festival and is often called the European blues capital.
