Buddy Week – a social start to student life
Buddy Week marks the beginning of student life and consists of a whole week of events, concerts, and social gatherings. The aim is to create a safe and inclusive environment where new students have the opportunity to get to know each other before teaching begins. Varied activities are organized, and there is no requirement to consume alcohol to participate.

Student engagement and volunteering
There are many opportunities to engage in student associations and organisations. Voluntary work provides both social benefits and valuable experience, and is a great arena to meet students across study programmes and study years.
The Student Society organises cafés and student pubs with concerts, themed parties, game nights, and quizzes among other activities. Additionally, you should check out the Student Society’s subgroups within floorball, underwater rugby as well as the film club and electronics club.
If you miss a subgroup for your interests, you can apply to SiG’s general assembly for funding for operations and materials. You can also help organise the annual student week, a cultural festival offering many concerts, themed parties, and other fun activities.

Campus and facilities
Campus Porsgrunn has modern facilities and is located a short distance from the city centre. The student house on campus is an important meeting place and is open throughout Buddy Week with various events. Here you can participate in quizzes, concerts and theme evenings.

A city with many experiences
Porsgrunn offers an archipelago, city beach, cafés and cultural offerings. The city has a compact centre with good public transport connections, and students have access to both urban and nature-close experiences. Culture enthusiasts can look forward to both Porsgrunn and Skien having their own cultural venues, namely Ælvespeilet and Ibsenhuset. Additionally, you will find Parkbiografen in Skien which often has cool concerts, and Bølgen Culture House in Larvik, just fifteen minutes away by train.
