Super social! That is probably the best word I have to describe our campus
Semester start at campus Vestfold
The buddy committee in Vestfold is responsible for semester start festival.
The festival is campus Vestfold’s own welcome week. We arrange it so that you get to know your fellow students, your campus, and the surrounding towns in the best possible way. It might sound a little strange, but the first period as a student can quickly become the time you have the most fun during your studies. It is usually during semester start that new students find each other, and often friendships are formed that last even after you have finished your studies.

At the beginning of the semester start festival, new students are divided into buddy groups, led by buddies. Buddies are students who are already studying at USN. Albert advises you to keep in touch with them even after the festival is over.
The buddies can be very helpful whenever you have a question about your studies, the campus or generally about the Vestfold region. They can quickly become your most important guides as a student.
Vestfold Student Society
Although the semester start festival only lasts one week, that does not mean the social life during your studies ends there.
As a student in Vestfold, you have a wide selection of student associations you can join. This is an organisation consisting of volunteer students who arrange various sporting, cultural and social activities for all students.
Here you can volunteer either in the main board, in one of the committees, subgroups or in the buddy committee. In addition to the semester start festival, the student society also arranges student parties, quizzes, the student festival UKA and trips to the ski destionation Hemsedal in winter.
The biggest advantage of having a voluntary position during your studies is the social and academic network you build. You also gain valuable experience in organisation and event management. Such experience can be crucial when you start looking for a job after your studies. And of course, you get some perks from working as a volunteer. VIP passes to events and extra student discounts on beer in town.
There are many student organisations on campus Vestfold where you can get involved. Here is a small selection of them:
City life in Vestfold
It is worth noting that campus Vestfold is located between two towns. Horten lies north of the campus, and is a peaceful and charming place. Tønsberg lies south, and is a lively place with a few more opportunities in shopping, cafés and cultural life.
In Tønsberg, you will find cafés, restaurants and nightclubs. There are also popular venues in Horten among students, especially because several student organisations collaborate with them, offering student-friendly prices.

Both Horten and Tønsberg host organisations and clubs that some students are members of.
Many find sports clubs or hobby associations in the towns. The municipalities in Vestfold are also good at facilitating cooperation with the students, so don’t be surprised if you also find a potential employer in the county when you attend one of the career days at the campus.

Active campus life
Although the offerings in the towns are good, you do not necessarily have to go far to live an active student life. At campus Vestfold you will find football pitches, volleyball courts, sports halls and your own gym.
Student sports in Vestfold is big. We do many different sports, and there are offerings both for those who have played for a while, and those who have never tried before.

Inside the campus building itself you will find several good canteens and kiosks. Some have long opening hours, so it is no problem to sit and study at campus late into the evening.
Before exam time there are quite a lot of people here, but fortunately there is a large area, lots of space and many available group rooms for students.

In other words, just look forward to arriving at campus Vestfold.
It´s always scary to go somewhere where you know few or no one, but probably it´s never easier to make new friends than when you are a student. You can just look forward to coming to Vestfold, and taking part in a great and inclusive student environment.
