How are you? We have a few questions to you regarding your study exchange in Norway.
What did you expect about life in Norway? Was it different from expected, if so – how?
- I expected it to be cold, to have beautiful landscapes and to be expensive. Turns out all this is true. The landscapes are breathtaking, but the cold is only beginning to arrive (early October) between -2 and 5°C. Life is also expensive, but it's easy to get by with first-price products and all the student discounts. Apart from that, I was able to discover a different mentality than in Belgium. Here you can sort your waste better, pay more attention to the environment (thanks to the many electric cars) and above all, people are very friendly and welcoming.
Could you tell us in brief about the subjects you are currently taking?
- I'm studying negotiation, entrepreneurship, sales management and Norwegian language and culture. We don't really have to study the course but we have some group works.
Why did you chose to study in Norway?
- I chose to study in Norway first because it is one of the countries with the best educational system, especially in the studies I do (which involves management). In addition, I wanted to discover the many landscapes and another culture that Norway has to offer.
Anything you want to share with other students and employees that you think they should learn about your home country?
- My country is completely different. Here in Norway, people are quite closed, shy. In Belgium, we say that we are very welcoming and we like to celebrate. It is easy to make friends, you can even go out alone and eventually make friends with another student.
