I am the Programme Leader for the Master’s Programme in Cancer Nursing at USN, with responsibility for academic development, coordination, and quality assurance of the study programme.

Competences

Ann Helen Torstveit has particular expertise in cancer nursing, gerontology, symptom management, evidence-based practice, and the care and follow-up of older adults with cancer. Her academic and research competence includes physical and cognitive function, quality of life, comorbidity, patient-reported outcome measures, and the clinical consequences of cancer treatment.

She also has competence in quantitative research methods, clinical studies, teaching, master’s supervision, study programme development, and research-based education. In addition, she has experience with international research collaboration and professional networking within cancer nursing, gerontology, and supportive cancer care.

CV

Ann Helen Torstveit is an Associate Professor at the University of South-Eastern Norway and Programme Leader for the Master’s Programme in Cancer Nursing. She is a registered nurse and cancer nurse, with a master’s degree in clinical nursing science and a PhD in health sciences from Oslo Metropolitan University.

She has extensive clinical experience from cancer care at Akershus University Hospital and Oslo University Hospital, as well as broad experience in teaching, supervision, curriculum development, and research in higher education. Her research focuses particularly on older adults with cancer, physical and cognitive function, symptom burden, quality of life, comorbidity, and the consequences of cancer treatment.

Torstveit has international experience as a visiting scholar at the University of California, San Francisco, and collaborates with research communities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Scotland, and Singapore. She has published several scientific articles within cancer nursing, gerontology, supportive cancer care, symptom management, and physical function in older adults with cancer.
