Håvard Ness

I am a Professor of Strategy and Tourism, teaching primarily at Master and PhD levels, and am an active researcher. My published work focuses mainly on interorganizational (business to business) relationships related to both marketing and strategic management, often with tourism as an empirical context. The focus is on contracts, governance, negotiations, as well as innovation, imitation, learning, co-branding and destination development. Furthermore, I also focus on processes of integration and coordination, and their effects at different levels of analysis (from company to network/ecosystem). My work has been published in internationally top-ranked academic journals such as Journal of Management Studies, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Travel Research, Tourism Management, Journal of Business Research, Industrial Marketing Management and several others. I have supervised a wide range of master's theses, some PhD students, and served as opponent for several doctorates (thesis defense). I am a member of the program committee for the PhD program in Management. I was the research group leader for Marketing and Strategy in the period 2020-2025. I have previously led the PhD program in Marketing Management, and led and served on the program board for the program (2014-2018). I have also been a member of the USN research committee, and was the coordinator of the Master's specialization in Strategy and Competency Management from 2000-2014. In 2019, I had research stays at Stanford and at the University of California Berkeley.
