Education:
1990–91 Period of study in Paris at Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales. Supervision by Director of research François Furet.
1991 Cand.philol. at the Universitey of Oslo: MA in history, with French and Poltical science as auxiliary subjects.
1992 Pedagogical training PPU/SLS, UiO 
1997–1998 Research period in Aix-en-Provence. Cooperation with professor Michel Vovelle.
2004 Dr.art.-degree at the University of Oslo. Title of dissertation: Flyktige evigheter. Lojalitetsbånd og sivilisering i Aix-en-Provence og den franske revolusjons verden, 1775–1815 (Fleeting EternitiesBonds of Loyalty and the Process of Civilization in Aix-en-Provence and the World of the French Revolution, 1775-1815).
