Lasse Berntzen joined Vestfold University College, now the University of South-Eastern Norway, as an associate professor in 2002. He was appointed professor in Information Systems in January 2014. His research has focused on the digital society, e-government, e-participation, and "smart cities". His research examines how cities can make better decisions by using data, analytics, and visualization. He is currently doing research on how Intenet-of-Things and big data can be used in some of the subdomains of smart cities, such as "smart traffic", "smart public transportation", "smart parking", "environmental monitoring", "smart waste management", "smart energy" and, "crime prevention". Since 2018 he has been conducting research on smart grid systems with focus on the role of aggregators and prosumers in the changing energy market. He has been a work package leader and Norwegian team leader for both Smart-MLA and PVADIP-C projects. Responsibilities

I am teaching three modules 2024/2025: Internet-of-Things (B.Sc.), Business Analytics (M.Sc.), Blockchain Technology (M.Sc.). Previous modules taught include .NET programming, mobile applications, e-commerce, public sector innovation, open-source, e-government and e-democracy, mining social media, and information systems security.
