Silje M.H. Ingebretsen is associate professor in special needs education, with specialization in language and communication difficulties. Silje is interested in communication difficulties in a lifelong perspective. Academic interests are particularly related to social communication (pragmatics), cognition, social competence, language, alternative and augmentative communication and reading and writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Course coordinator: Alternative and augmentative communication (ASK1)
  • Course coordinator spring 2024:  Alternative and augmentative communication (MP-SKO4400) (Master in pedagogy, Campus Drammen) 

 

  • Teach various courses at the bachelor's and master's programme in spesial needs education (ISPED)
  • Supervision of bachelor's and master's students in ISPED
  • Contributing to "Kompetanseløftet" for special needs education and inclusive practice 

Competences

Silje completed her PhD at the Department of Special Needs Education at the University of Oslo in August 2023, with the thesis "Treatment of social communication difficulties following acquired brain injury: Efficacy of Group Interactive Structured Treatment". 


 Silje has previously worked in cognitive rehabilitation as a speech and language pathologist, and has broad experience in assessing and treating language and communication difficulties after acquired brain injury, guidance and counseling for people with communication challenges and the surrounding environment, as well as interdisciplinary and interagency cooperation.
