Use of Mobile devices in class sets and mobile workspaces

Mobile Workspace is a collection of mobile devices linked to USN's Application Download and Policy Setup Service. The units can be private or in class sets with restrictions.

Airwatch is an EMM (Enterprise Mobile Management) system that allows us to centrally manage primarily iOS devices. We rent the service itself from USIT.

Class set

All devices in the class set must be purchased through a DEP-certified supplier so that the devices automatically enter the AirWatch system (DEP Enrollment Program). That is, the IT section purchases and all USN units that are added are managed by the IT section.

Prerequisites for use:

    • Units managed in groups in class sets. IT does not contain personal devices.
    • No personal setup or affiliation with the device
    • AppStore associated with personal ID and download has been removed
    • Possibility of personal setup has been removed
    • Own software catalog for USN on mobile and tablets
    • IOS operating system upgrade is done manually. Settings - General - Update

Ordering Apps for iPads in class sets
    • Before ordering Apps in PureService, it is recommended to check details about the program here: https://volume.itunes.apple.com/en/store
    • Apps that are to be available are ordered via PureService and IT makes them available through the USN software catalog on the device (Select icon: USN Mobile Apps).

Private devices BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)

    • May include employee USN units and private units
    • No USN administration of the device itself.
    • Own software catalog for USN on mobile and tablets
    • Setup for accessing USN Mobile Apps

This is how it works

Devices in class sets are remotely controlled via AirWatch and it is possible to send apps directly to groups of devices, see status of updates and condition, automatic configuration, ability to remotely delete / change, etc.
The device can never be logged out of the system by a user, but can be deleted by IT when it is no longer desired that USN has ownership.

BYOD devices are not managed by AirWatch, only the USN Mobile App directory is available.

Software from the USN Mobile App

A separate software app on the device gives users access to downloadable apps. The directory is called: USN Mobile Apps.
