Attending USN’s International Summer School is the most social experience I have ever had as a student.
Housing and training centre
Students reside in single, furnished rooms with private bathrooms located in modern and fully equipped dormitories on campus. All cooking and food preparation are done in a shared kitchen. USN provides students with kitchen equipment, bed linen, and bedding. Each floor has a common eating and recreational area. More information about housing is available on the Student Welfare Organisation webpage.
In addition to high-standard housing, USN offers a training centre with a weight room and gym for basketball and other sports. The training centre is located on campus. The housing fee includes lunch served by the USN cafeteria on Mondays to Thursdays between classes.
Social and cultural activities
While academic content is a priority, USN also promotes intercultural learning through:
- Social gatherings
The programme offers social gatherings and cultural activities during the evenings and weekends, as well as membership in the Campus Hønefoss training centre. Social activities include a welcome barbecue, traditional Norwegian dinner and dance, campus events, hiking and a farewell dinner. Students can visit some of Norway’s most famous cultural attractions such as the Viking Ship Museum and the Norwegian Opera. - Weekend trips
Weekend trips to Copenhagen (Denmark) and Bergen (Norway) are two of the programme highlights. Students travel by bus, railway, and boat through Norway’s majestic fjords and mountains to Bergen where they stay for a couple of nights. The trip to Copenhagen consists of a mini-cruise with two nights on a ship and a full day to explore the beautiful city. - Local attractions
Hønefoss is a peaceful and safe city (population 14,000) located in the midst of spectacular Norwegian scenery. Most shopping and recreational activities are within walking distance of the USN campus and Oslo is only a 60-minute drive away. Hønefoss is a great base for adventurous students who want to explore beautiful Norwegian mountains and fjords, as well as travellers who want to visit other parts of Scandinavia and the Baltics.
About USN
USN was established on 4 May 2018 as Norway’s newest and second-largest university, with 18,000 students attending classes on eight campuses located in the municipalities of Kongsberg, Drammen, Bø, Ringerike, Notodden, Porsgrunn, Rauland and Vestfold. The campuses provide USN with a foundation in some of Norway’s most dynamic regions.
The university’s four faculties — Faculty of Humanities, Sports and Educational Science; Faculty of Health and Social Sciences; Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences; and the USN School of Business — offer a range of bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degrees, as well as continuing education programmes. The USN School of Business offers a broad range of degree programmes, from PhD level to undergraduate level across various fields of study: management, marketing, business analysis, information systems, tourism, law, design, and political and social sciences.
Costs and fees
USN is a tuition-free, public university. The programme cost for international students is USD 3,350 including:

The fee does not include transport to Norway, meals, recreational travel, books, travel and health insurance, or personal expenses. The fee for the entire programme is due by 12 April.

Courses
The objective of this programme is to provide students with knowledge, competence, and skills to better navigate the global business environment. Learning activities move beyond traditional classroom lectures to engage students with companies and people in the Norwegian business community. USN arranges guest lecturers, excursions, and visits to leading Norwegian companies to provide students with insight into Scandinavian business perspectives.
The programme offers courses in International Management (IMA3000R) and International Marketing (MAR327) with learning activities that include lectures, discussions, and group work. Detailed information about the course content, learning activities, prerequisites, and examinations is available in our study plan below. Students are encouraged to enrol in both courses.
Study Plan and Course Plans
A study plan describes the content, structure and organization of a study programme. To each study plan there is a set of course plans that describe the different courses. In the course plan you will also find a reading list. Below you will find a study model that shows you which courses that are taught in each term. In the study model you'll also find links to each course plan.
