Why study ITEPS?

ITEPS is a teacher education, which gives you qualifications to work in international schools. If you have a passion to teach and are open to new cultures, teaching in an international context may suit you.

The number of international schools in the world is rapidly increasing and the demand for well-qualified teachers in international education with it. ITEPS is the first Bachelor program that prepares for a primary school teaching career in international and multicultural schools all over the world.

Where can I work?

In a more flexible world where people move around, we see an increase of international schools. Most students who graduate from USN with a degree in teaching gets a relevant job during the first year after they are finished.

On completion of the four-year program, you will receive a Bachelor of Education title. You will also receive a diploma supplement with your diploma to show that you are specifically prepared to teach at an international school.

USN works closely with international schools both in Norway and abroad. During your stay at USN your will get to know several of these institutions. This provides our students with a broad foundation of contact with potential employers.

Being an all-English program the ITEPS program does not meet the requirements for teaching in Norwegian schools. If you aim to work in the Norwegian school system, we recommend applying to one of our ordinary teacher educations for primary schools.

What you will learn

At ITEPS, you will meet a multicultural student environment at a program that emphasizes democratic values and cultural understanding. In addition to solid academic didactic skills, you will get to know several national and international schooling systems both in theory and through practical training.

University College of Southeast Norway (Norway) and Stenden University (the Netherlands) offer ITEPS jointly. The program consists of modules, so that whilst the majority of your studies will be at USN, some elective parts is offered at our partner university.

More information about can be found in the Study Plans (program descriptions).
