Admission procedures for programmes taught in Buskerud and Vestfold

Here are some easy steps for you if you want to spend a semester or two at USN - Buskerud and Vestfold. We have tried to make it as easy as possible for you to apply. Kindly note that Exchange programmes are only open for students from our partner institutions.

Please note: This application procedure is valid for the following campuses: Drammen, Kongsberg, Ringerike and Vestfold.

How to apply

Step one: Exchange students should be nominated by their home institution.

Step two: Exchange students who are applying to study one or two semesters (through ERASMUS, NORDPLUS or other exchange programmes) at USN, must apply through the International Relations Section or equivalent at their home institution. 

Kindly note that we do not process applications from students who are not nominated by our partner institutions.

Once your home institution has nominated you, we will send you an application form - or you can download the application here.

Step three: The application form has to be completed and sent with your latest transcripts to USN via email to the International Relations Section ( The transcript of records should preferably be provided in English or translated if formal transcripts are not issued in English.

Application deadlines are:

1st May to apply for the Fall semester or full year

 1st November to apply for the Spring semester

Step three:  USN will issue a Letter of Admission if your course selection is approved. You will then receive instructions by email on practical matters such as how to apply for housing.

NOTE: When you make your choice of courses, please be aware that you cannot select cross-campus courses or programmes.


To be eligible for admission to our exchange programmes in English, you must be enrolled as a student at one of our partner institutions and be nominated by them. You must also have fulfilled at least 60 ECTS or equivalent within your study field.

The exchange programmes are taught in English. Consequently, you need to be sufficiently proficient in English to be able to follow, participate and be evaluated in English. It is sufficient that you indicate your level of English on the Application Form. We expect all our Exchange students to have minimum of B2 proficiency in European language grid (click here for clarification:
