Notes

OneDrive for Business is a cloud service, integrated in the Microsoft Office suite, available for USN students.

Encrypted Virtual Disc. This service can be used to store yellow research data if the students follow this guide this guide.

USN OneDrive with a disc-file can be used as a temporary storage solution if you do an audio recording with your own computer or a dictaphone, and transfer the files as soon as possible to USN Safe. When you have verified that the audio recording is working in USN Safe, it must be deleted from the disc-file and dictaphone. The audio recording is only to be available in USN Safe.

4 Applies only when using "private" teams (channels). When using "public" teams, only GREEN data is accepted.

Contact forskningsdata@usn.no if you need access to USN safe.

UiO Nettskjema is used for collecting green and yellow data, which can then be processed on a disk file. Red data collected in Nettskjema should be moved to USN Safe as soon as possible. The standard solution for this is to use USN OneDrive with a disk file as an intermediate storage solution and transfer the file from there to USN Safe. See the dedicated page for USN Safe guidance. Once you have verified that the audio recording works in USN Safe, it should be deleted from Nettskjema and the disk file. Contact forskningsdata@usn.no if you need this service.

USN recommends using Disk File instead of an encrypted USB stick.
Yellow and red data can be stored encrypted on a local disk (personal PC). Yellow and red data can be encrypted using approved software such as 7-zip (see link) and then stored on a local disk, USB stick, or external hard drive. Information on encrypting USB sticks.

You have access to L: only if you are a supervisor for a student project group that has been assigned its own area on L:, and to P: only if you are an employee and have applied for and been assigned your own project area.

How to send encrypted email.

Note - Red Data:

There are strict conditions for the use of red data. Especially if it is not processed in USN SAFE. USN strongly prefers that USN SAFE is used primarily for processing red data, and not alternative solutions
