Close proximity to society and working life

The University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) is fully integrated with the world of business. This means that we have very close links with both public and private sectors. USN aims to act as a focal point in our region for new ideas and solutions, and to this end we regard both our students and employees as key resources.  

We invite speakers from both private and public sector organisations and arrange events where students can meet their potential employers. Our dedicated ‘business bachelor’ and ‘industry master’ degrees enable students to combine their studies with salaried work in a relevant company. By enabling business to play a key role in our study programmes, our students learn what is expected of them, and wider society is guaranteed qualified professionals with all the right skills.   

At USN, work experience is worth its weight in gold. Our students combine learning on campus with learning by practical work experience. Many of them complete their bachelor’s and master’s theses in collaboration with the private and public sectors, and other organisations. Robust work experience gives our students a head start in the competition for future jobs. They emerge better prepared for a life in business, and businesses get access to the skills they need to adapt and develop. 

The world of business is in a constant state of flux, and ever greater demands are being placed on relevant skills. This is why USN offers supplementary and further education programmes for those who want to refresh their existing qualifications or start out on a new career.  

We work with partner organisations in both the private and public sectors, and collaborate actively with other Norwegian and international research groups. Our close working relationship with business provides us with an excellent overview and insight into the needs and demands that our students will encounter in their future careers.
