Campus Porsgrunn has a strong engineering environment within informatics and automation field, chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering. Bachelor studies within engineering open a broad range of possibilities for a future career.  Our engineering programmes are developed in collaboration with local industry and are designed to meet the need for future competence.

Chemical Engineering

You will learn:

Civil Engineering

 

You will learn:

  • Advanced math which will prepare you for a master degree in Engineering
  • The Finite Element Method 
  • Principles of Structural Design: Concrete, Steel and Wood
Electrical Power Engineering

You will learn:

  • Advanced math which will prepare you for a master degree in Engineering
  • High Voltage Technology
  • Electrical Machines
Computer Science and Industrial Automation

You have the opportunity to learn:

  • Advanced math which will prepare you for a master degree in Engineering
  • Informatics (like programming, databases and computer networks)..
  • Industrial automation (like electrotechnics, control engineering and control systems).
Mechanical Engineering

You will learn:

  • Advanced math which will prepare you for a master degree in Engineering
  • The Finite Element Method 
  • The opportunities to specialize within mechanical engineering field trough a project

If meeting the prerequisites in the courses at campus Porsgrunn, international students can combine courses within the professional directions listed in the study modell.

The teaching will take place in English when international students participate in these courses.

Admission requirements

The programme is open to international exchange students studying at one of USN's bilateral partner institutions. Exchange students at the bachelor-level must have completed at least 60 ECTS or equivalent within the relevant study field, and be officially nominated by their home university in order to apply. Admission to the programme requires a good command of the English language, both spoken and written. An English proficiency equivalent to B2 (Cambridge) level is recommended.

Academic background: third year bachelor students in engineering or related fields.
