What is Project Management of Complex Systems?

A project is a temporary endeavour undertaken to create a unique product or service. Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques accomplished through five linked processes for initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing work to meet a set of defined requirements. This project-based module exposes students to tools and techniques useful for the effective management of systems engineering projects.

Tools and techniques for project goal and scope definition, task identification and compilation in a work breakdown structure, time and cost estimations, project planning, project balanced scorecard, project knowledge map, risk assessment, project monitoring and control, and project closure are presented. The concepts of project fast-tracking and project recovery are also introduced.
