Erasmus+ Blended Short-Term Mobility (BIP) for Students

Exchange students smiling at the camera

Take the opportunity to participate in a short international mobility that combines online and physical learning. Here you will find information about requirements, funding, and how to take part in a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP).

Co funded by EU's Erasmus+ programme

What is Erasmus+ BIP?

A Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) is a type of Erasmus+ mobility that combines:

  • a mandatory virtual component
  • a short physical mobility abroad

To participate, the mobility must:

  • award at least 3 ECTS credits
  • include a physical stay of 5 to 30 days

For PhD candidates, there are exceptions to the requirement for a virtual component.

USN must be a partner in the BIP for students to receive Erasmus+ funding.

Who can participate?

  • Students enrolled in a degree programme at USN
  • Participation is possible from the first year of study
  • Students enrolled in one-year programmes are not eligible for Erasmus+ funding

Funding and grants

Erasmus+ provides financial support to cover part of the costs.

  • 79 EUR per day
  • Maximum funding for 5 days of activity + up to 2 travel days
  • The physical stay may be longer, but funding is limited to these days

Example:
5 days of academic activity + 2 travel days = funding for 7 days

Please note that Erasmus+ funding does not cover all expenses. You must cover the remaining costs yourself.

Inclusion support (top-up funding)

Students with fewer opportunities may receive:

  • an additional 100 EUR (for stays of 5–14 days)

This applies, for example, to students who:

  • have children under 18
  • have a disability or chronic illness
  • have refugee status
  • belong to indigenous peoples or national minorities

Green travel

You may receive:

  • 50 EUR additional support for environmentally friendly travel

Requirements:

  • at least 50% of the journey must be by train, bus, bicycle, or carpooling

How are grants allocated?

From 2025 onwards:

  • Each faculty at USN receives a limited number of grants (approximately 15 per faculty per year, depending on funding from HK-dir)
  • Faculties decide:
    • which study programmes participate
    • which students are nominated

You cannot apply independently unless your study programme participates.

How to participate

Find out if your programme participates in a BIP

  2. Student selection
Participants are selected by the study programme based on defined criteria
