Research areas, interests, and projects within security, crisis management, and emergency preparedness leadership
Klein's research interests are particularly related to preparedness for epidemics and pandemics, as well as how preventive measures in the health sector can be strengthened. A central theme is how scientific knowledge can be translated into solid decision-making bases in crisis situations, and how organizations can develop robust systems to address biological threats.
In addition, Klein has participated in a number of national and international research projects relevant to preparedness, including EU- and EDCTP-funded initiatives within epidemic prevention, health preparedness, and technological solutions for infection control. Research and analysis related to risk communication, disinformation, and trust-building in the face of public health crises also form a central part of his engagement.
