Susann Gjerde is Associate Professor at USN School of Business. Her research interests include leadership, management, critical leadership studies, leadership development, identity, values and role. She has published in international scholarly journals such as The Leadership Quarterly and Human Relations. Prior to joining academia Susann worked as a management consultant in Scandinavia with leadership development as her area of expertise

Competences

Susann has been an important contributor to the development of coaching theory and practice in the Nordic countries through the book Coaching. What. Why. How. (Gjerde, 2003; 2010) which has been translated into Danish and Swedish, as well as delivery of leadership development programs that have used coaching for approximately thousand leaders.

Susann has taught management-related subjects since 2001 at a number of business schools in Scandinavia, such as BI, OsloMet, and Copenhagen Business School and is a sought-after lecturer. She has been a researcher at Lund University and had a guest research stay at Henley Business School. She has also been a partner and leader in a consulting company, but prefers researching and developing others in the leadership role to exercising leadership herself.
