Outside, from home and while travelling
Students and employees travel, work or study from home, attend lectures, access files, etc. Here we have an overview over the most common IT services you can use when staying away from campus, working from home, traveling, etc.
Employees with PCs from USN basically have equal access to the IT services when working outside of the campus.
If this does not work or errors occur, you can always use https://pc.usn.no/
NB! Some of the guides below require login.
On campus, services are available on the wireless network Eduroam, or by wired network and desktop PC. Eduroam is also available at some airports and other universities.
Connect to the wireless network Eduroam
Off campus
Off campus everyone is responsible for the access to networks and network capacity themselves. 4G could be used where appropriate.
When you are off campus and use a USN-administered computer, you essentially have seamless access to all the university’s IT services in the same way as if you were located on campus. One has e.g. access to important services such as network folders, email, intranet and more.
Employees who need access to SAP, Agora etc. must turn on an additional security called SetProxy. To access the university’s services with private equipment, it is recommended to use https://pc.usn.no/
When working and studying from home, make sure your local network is not exposed to unnecessary bandwidth loss. For example, someone playing online games while you are in an online course. This affects the bandwidth and can also affect your experience of the course.
The tools below are available from all devices.
Zoom online courses and web conferencing
Zoom is recommended as the primary tool for online teaching.
