Research areas, interests, and projects within security, crisis management, and emergency preparedness leadership
Effective crisis management depends on relevant information, knowledge, and competence, as well as the rapid sharing of these among the actors involved. Gundersen’s research is particularly focused on how robust information infrastructures can support such knowledge sharing through seamless communication between information systems, both during and outside of crises. A central theme is the development of systems that can be scaled up and down as needed, both technically and organizationally, and ensuring that solutions developed in crisis are further refined and applied in peacetime.
Her research includes collaboration with scholars in Sri Lanka, Mozambique, Kenya, Ghana, and Ireland, as well as with researchers at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI).
