Employees who travel to high-risk countries must use dedicated IT equipment set up for the purpose and not ordinary IT equipment used in the daily work at USN.
When traveling to high-risk countries, you should no take IT-equipment that you use on a daily basis with you.
When traveling to risk countries, it is not recommended to take IT-equipment that you use on a daily basis with you.
NB! Remember to order IT-equipment at least 4 weeks before departure.

High-risk countries
By high-risk country we mean countries where there is a particular risk of activity from state intelligence authorities, aimed at Norwegian citizens.
High-risk countries: Pakistan, Iran, China and Russia.
USN IT-equipment must not be brought. Loan eqipment for the purpose is possible.
Risk countries: The definition of risk countries are countries which we do not have security policy cooperation with. That is, countries that are not part of NATO or the EU.
It is recommended to not bring USN IT-equipment. Loan equipment for the purpose is possible.
The responsibility of the traveler
Before the trip
- Order IT equipment to borrow when traveling using this form.
- The order should be done at least 4 weeks before departure.
- Familiarize yourself with the IT equipment to be used on the trip. This is its own dedicated computer (Chromebook) and mobile phone.
- Examine recommendations for visits to the country you are traveling to.
- Familiarize yourself with the relevant legislation in the country you are visiting.
- Plan which documents it is necessary to have access to and place them in a suitable area with access from pc.usn.no.
Configuration of the IT-equipment must be done in collaboration with the IT-department on the travellers campus:
- Chromebook (computer)
- Code tag
- Mobile phone. A new subscription must be created if needed.

During the trip
- Do not use memory sticks or other electronic devices you may receive on the trip.
- Only switch on mobile phone/-data when you need to use it, in other periods this should be switched off.
- USN owned equipment must be supervised and locked when not in use.
- Contact IT support as soon as possible in case of loss of equipment.
After the trip
- Hand in your computer (Chromebook) and mobile phone WITHOUT connecting the equipment to the network.
- Reset the mobile phone to factory settings before handing it in. Mobile subscription should be canceled.
- Hand in the code chip for 2-factor authentication.
- Make a new password on your USN user account.
