Why study Global Health?
Why not take the opportunity to study global health in an international setting in Norway? The course lasts for 3 months and is a part of the Bachelor program in Nursing.
The course addresses current major global health problems and threats, as well as global and local public health strategies to meet these challenges. The overall aim of the course is to gain knowledge and increased understanding of the political, socio-economic, environmental and cultural factors that influence patterns of ill health and their remediation.
What you will learn
The course content is organised in three main themes:
- Globalization and Health
- Migration and Health
- Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
Learning Activities and assessments
Learning activities will include lectures, group work, group tutorials, seminars, panel discussions literature searches, independent studies and project work. Each module includes an assignment, consisting of either individual or group work. All assignments must be approved prior to the final exam. The final exam is a home examination written over a period of four days, concisting of 3000 words. It will test both the student’s knowledge and ability to reflect upon the major topics covered during the course.
The exchange period can be a combination of this course and a clinical practice period.
