The TUNE (Traditional music Undergraduate Network in Europe) project aims to promote strategic and structured cooperation between the partner institutions through the development, testing, evaluation, and implementation of an innovative model for virtual and blended mobility in traditional music undergraduate programmes.

This model will use an online platform and other digital tools in concert with intensive week programmes, thereby embedding internationalisation – both “at home” and abroad – in the undergraduate curricula at all five partner institutions.

We seek to embrace the locally rooted, while also transcending it, aiming to introduce students and faculty to the diversity of traditional musics in Europe, while also transmitting their own vernacular culture to others.

The project’s joint module and online platform will both serve as new spaces for exploring the variety of traditional music cultures in Europe.

Main objectives:

  1. Develop a sustainable, mutually recognized joint undergraduate module,“European Traditional Musics Beyond Borders”, based on blended mobility, thereby embedding mobility in the curricula of all five partner institutions.
  2. Create and develop innovative digital educational content and technical structures for a sustainable online learning platform, “TUNE Online Platform for Learning, Teaching and Musical Exchange”.
  3. Provide access to digital educational content, as well as live student musical performances, produced during the project to the general public, including underrepresented groups.
  4. Foster the development of intercultural competence among students and other project stakeholders through the lens of traditional music exchange. The project aims to raise awareness and understanding among students and other project stakeholders regarding cultural identity, cultural awareness, and cultural heritage in the European context.
  5. Enhance music students’ employability through providing opportunities to build a European professional network, gain performance experience in professional conditions, and develop digital skills and competences.
  6. Improve mobility between the partner institutions by forming a community of traditional music students and faculty that engage in collaborations and exchange both within and beyond the scope of the project.
