Research areas, interests, and projects within security, crisis management, and emergency preparedness leadership
Johannessen researches how political communication and the development of public debate can influence security and preparedness, particularly through threats from disinformation, conspiracy theories, and polarization. A central area of interest is how technology can be used to develop flexible educational programs that strengthen competence in the field.
His research includes studies of how parties and voters communicate on social media during election campaigns, as well as how digitalization can facilitate better dialogue between citizens and elected representatives.
Currently, Johannessen is engaged in two projects related to preparedness: TeleTraining in Crisis Management, which develops flexible education for emergency preparedness, and ATLAS, which investigates how artificial intelligence can be used in education.
