Why study Sport and Kinesiology Studies?

The programme aims to educate students in how to lead people and groups in various types of movement, both within the sporting context and in wider settings where participants look to meet their requirements in physical activity and exercise at various life stages.

Through lectures, practical activities, and work placements, students will gain a deep immersion into and rich understanding of sport and kinesiology in the Nordic context. The applied theoretical perspectives that are explored in the program are closely linked to placement and vocational activities outside the University. Through this careful integration of theory and practice, students will receive outstanding teaching from leading academics, and gain first-hand experience of sport and sport-related work in the Nordic context.

What will you learn?

The study program consists of two courses making up a total of 30 ECTS. During the courses, students will learn about the physiological, psychological and social developments that people experience during different life stages, and how these changes must be taken into account when planning physical activities.

Further, students will be provided with an ideal platform for their professional development.  They will gain real experience in the planning, implementation, and assessment of coaching sessions and competitions.  Students will be equipped to understand and to address important challenges that are associated with the coach’s role, using approaches that are both practical and holistic.

Why study at USN

The University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) offers an exceptional setting for learning.  The student environment is excellent and the small size of USN allows for a close contact between students and professors. USN also benefits greatly from its geographical setting, with spectacular nature all around.
