FLOWlock for supervised written examinations

FLOWlock is used for supervised written examinations. The examination is carried out in a locked environment on your PC/Mac.

Preparation before the examination day

For the examination in FLOWlock, you must download and install Lockdown Browser before the examination.

Lockdown browser is a program that locks your PC/Mac during the examination. The browser must be started to access the examination assignment and ensures that you work in a secure locked environment. You will not have access to files, the internet, etc. during the examination. When the examination has been submitted, the Lockdown browser closes. 

How to download and install Lockdown browser:

  1. Log in to Wiseflow.
  2. In the top right corner, click on your name, and then "Edit profile"
  3. Select the "System" tab, and "Lockdown-browser"
  4. If you are unsure whether you have the latest version, click on "Test browser"
  5. To install the latest browser, select "Download for Windows" or "Download for Mac"
  6. When the download is complete, run and install the programme.

The browser is updated regularly, and it is therefore important that you check before each examination that you have the latest version. Make sure that the check shows 2 green ticks. 

If you have problems installing Lockdown browser, contact IT support either by phone or visit IT student help.

Demo flows

We recommend that you try out demo flows before the examination day. In the demo flows, you can test how the flow you will use for your examination works. To get to the demos, click the grey button "Demo flows" located at the bottom of the page with your examinations in WISEflow.

On the examination day

Log in to WISEflow, go to the course you will be taking the examination in, click "Start participation". Then follow the steps that appear on the screen. You are ready for the examination when you see a green box with the countdown timer on the screen. 
The countdown timer should be on the screen until the examination starts. You must do this so that you have enough time to get help before the examination starts if you encounter problems.

When the examination starts, you will be given a participant password, which you enter in WISEflow. You will then get access to the examination assignment and the writing editor. The examination is answered directly in WISEflow. If aid is permitted in the locked environment, you will find this under "External resources".

When you have completed the examination and want to submit, do the following:

  1. Click «Go to submission» in the top right corner.
  2. You will then see the box "Submit answer". The examination invigilator must first enter their password. You must then tick that you wish to submit. 
  3. After you have ticked, the «Submit answer» button turns green. Click the button to submit.
  4. You will be informed that you have submitted and can return to WISEflow.
