Work placement/internship and contact with working life
We have close cooperation with the business community. Representatives from the workforce are invited as guest lecturers, and students are invited to company visits, breakfast meetings, seminars and conferences together with the business community in the region. Here you can meet future employers, build networks and find clients for tasks to be completed during your studies.
You also have the opportunity to get a mentor through the USN Business School's mentor programme.
In addition, you can choose to take an internship (work placement during your education).
Internship
An internship in a company or organisation is offered as an option during the 5th or 6th semester of the programme.
Mentor programme
The mentor programme is an opportunity for students in their 2nd and 3rd year. The mentor acts as a discussion partner, network builder, inspirer and adviser in the student's choice of career path or further studies. Mentors are recruited from private, public and voluntary sectors.

Specialisations Kongsberg
As a student on the bachelor’s degree in economics and management, you have the opportunity to take your third year (5th and/or 6th semester) at one of the other campuses at USN Business School. In the 6th semester of the programme, campus-specific specialisations within the field of economics and management are offered. In the 5th semester, you can choose courses within various subject areas with a recommended composition. It is also possible to take the 5th semester abroad.
At the Kongsberg campus, we give you the opportunity to get close to an international working life and the reality as it appears in large international companies. We offer two specialisations:
- Technology Management: In today’s society, it is important for companies to capture new ideas and change. This is the specialisation for those who want solid and updated insight into working with supply chains and who want to contribute to creating innovative businesses. After completing the programme, you can also continue with a master’s degree in Technology Management.
- International Management: This specialisation reflects the international aspect of economics studies in Kongsberg. You will gain knowledge and skills about how international working life functions and what it takes to succeed there. We show you how small ideas, businesses, and solutions can grow and manage risks in their environments.
We have close cooperation with the industrial cluster in Kongsberg, one of the world’s leading environments within innovative high technology. Our lecturers have experience from a broad spectrum of companies, and we invite guest lecturers from industry. We offer internships in the sixth semester locally and in Brazil.
