CV
Benja Stig Fagerland has more than 30 years of experience spanning leadership, strategy, organisational transformation, executive advisory work and higher education.
Before entering academia full-time, she held leadership and strategic roles in organisations including Telenor, Oracle, NHO and Kunnskapsforlaget, and worked with strategic foresight at the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies and as a senior adviser at First House.
At the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO), she initiated and led the first development phase of Female Future, an initiative later adapted and referenced internationally. She subsequently founded SHEconomy® and developed Corporate Diversity Responsibility (CDR) as a governance-oriented approach to organisational responsibility, diversity and leadership.
Her higher-education experience includes teaching, programme development and executive education at USN, OsloMet, Niels Brock Executive MBA and Kristiania/Edinburgh Business School.
At USN School of Business, her work has developed from long-standing leadership teaching and continuing education into research-informed programme development, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), international collaboration and research on strategic imagination, responsible AI, AI governance, agent readiness, sustainable leadership and organisational transformation.
Her recent academic work includes: The co-development of the Dynamic Leadership Model (DLM) and development of the Strategic Imagination Assessment Score (SIAS), alongside peer-reviewed research and educational development connecting scenarios, backcasting, strategic judgement and leadership under AI-driven uncertainty.
She is Founder and Chair of SHEconomy®, whose board brings together senior leaders from technology, industry, diplomacy and defence, including Norway’s Chief of Defence. She also serves on the Editorial Board of SocAIties – International Journal on the Social Contexts & Consequences of AI, and regularly contributes to international academic, executive and policy-oriented arenas.
