Om avhandlingen
Methanol is a future multipurpose molecule for materials, energy and CO2 storage.
It can provide an alternative to today’s fossil energy sources and petrochemical feedstocks.
Low temperature methanol synthesis (LTMS) in liquid phase presents a cheaper alternative for achieving a full conversion per pass.
We have demonstrated that Cu nanoparticle sizes can be tailored for methanol synthesis reaction by mere changes in physical conditions without changing the chemical recipe. The smaller the nanoparticle size, the more surfaces are exposed per gram which enhances methanol production.
The LTMS presents a cheaper alternative for producing methanol, as it provides the possibility of using air and hydrocarbon source to make methanol.
